SEAoT TAMU General Meeting, October 8
For the second meeting of our Fall 2020 Semester, we had the privilege of hosting Rob Kinchler, P.E., from the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI). CRSI is the nation’s trade association for rebar manufacturers, fabricators, placers, and detailers. Established in 1924, CRSI promotes the use of reinforced concrete thru research, technical help, design guides, and promotion. The non-profit CRSI Research & Education Foundation fosters the educational and research mission of the Institute through educational programs and scholarships for students majoring in civil engineering, architecture, and other related disciplines. CRSI is headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois, with regional offices located across the United States.
Our speaker from CRSI discussed about the emerging trends in reinforced concrete. Evolution in material science, engineering and construction practices, and computer aided analysis and design have advanced the capabilities and performance of reinforced concrete. The speaker’s presentation explores the latest trends including high strength reinforcing steel, high performance concrete, innovative forming systems, cement types, and architectural finishes.
We are planning to have two meetings in November.
