SEAoT-TAMU Updates – January 2025 – Isabel Mlô

2025 officers

President – Isabel Mlô

Isabel Mlô is the returning President of SEAoT-TAMU. She received her B.S. and M.S. in civil engineering from Texas A&M University and is currently in her fifth year of pursuing a Ph.D. in structural engineering. Her research work includes an array of non-destructive evaluation techniques for structural health monitoring under the direction of Dr. Stefan Hurlebaus. Isabel’s other research interests include historic building preservation, smart structures, and advanced continuum mechanics. Her hobbies include hiking, working out, playing with her dog, and caring for houseplants. 

Vice President – Mikhail Lanier

This is Mikhail’s third year as a SEAoT-TAMU officer. He received his B.S. and M.S. in civil engineering from Texas A&M University and is currently in his fifth year of pursuing a Ph.D. in structural engineering. Similarly to Isabel, he conducts research focused on the development of non-destructive evaluation techniques for health assessment of built structures under the direction of Dr. Stefan Hurlebaus. His further interests are in the study of advanced continuum mechanics, structural health monitoring, corrosion, and structural stability. His hobbies include cooking, reading, and playing bassoon with the Texas A&M Symphonic Winds.

Treasurer – Vinh Le

Vinh Le is a new face to the SEAoT-TAMU officer group. He received his B.S. in civil engineering and his M.S. in structural engineering from the Technological University of Panama. He is currently a second-year structural engineering PhD student at Texas A&M University under the supervision of Dr. Anna Birley. His research work focuses on improving the punching shear capacities of bridge decks to extend their lifespans. His main research interest is in forensic evaluations of concrete structures. In his free time, Vinh enjoys working out and cooking. 

General Officer – Ali Mohebi Alidash

Ali is also new to the SEAoT-TAMU officer group. He received his B.S. in civil engineering and his M.S. in structural engineering from the University of Tehran, Iran. He is a first-year structural engineering PhD student at Texas A&M University working under Dr. Stefan Hurlebaus. His research project is the Advanced Bridge Technology Clearinghouse. This project is working to bridge academic research and practical applications in structural engineering. His research interests include AI, bridge management systems, and health monitoring. Some of Ali’s hobbies include hiking, traveling, and playing soccer.
