In our last newsletter, I shared some resources from our parent organization, NCSEA (National Council of Structural Engineers Associations). As a SEAoT member, I hope that you take advantage of these resources available to you.

The Houston/Gulf Coast SEAoT board also strives that this chapter provides a value to you for your membership. While the pandemic has limited a great deal of our typical networking opportunities, the time of lockdowns has forced many of us to think differently about our approach to engaging the community and continuing to expand networking opportunities. While you cannot replace meeting people in person, the virtual world provides extensive opportunities that we must also continue to use to provide benefits to our members, even when COVID-19 and social distancing is a thing of the past. For instance, Sara has done a great job this year in engaging speakers from across the country, a value to our members that would not be as available were it not for the virtual environment.

As we near the end of the spring meetings (can you believe only two left before summer?), the board is finalizing a poll to send to our members. This poll is important in providing us feedback on how to best serve you, our community. I hope you that take time to provide feedback to us.

We’ll see you (virtually, of course) at the next chapter meeting!

Stay safe,

Joshua White, Ph.D., P.E.
