Fiserv Forum – Project Discussion presented by Shruti Sharma, PE of Walter P Moore
Walter P Moore served as the long-span roof design specialist and enclosure
consultant for the new Milwaukee Bucks arena. The 18,000-seat venue features an
iconic curving roof structure and dynamic façade that position the arena among the
most prominent and recognizable buildings in the city. A truly multi-purpose venue,
the arena has been designed to host basketball, hockey, end stage and center stage
concerts, circuses and ice events, and open-floor exhibitions.
Walter P Moore integrated structural and enclosure engineering services to provide a
holistic design solution for the complete building enclosure – performing extensive
comparative studies of seven distinct roof framing confgurations to determine the
most effcient, functional and constructible long-span structural system, then
employing state-of-the-art parametric modeling techniques to optimize truss spans
and depths, and then digitally rationalize the complex geometry of a roof and façade that
merge multiple intersecting curves and surfaces into a continuous, seamless design
theme.
Shruti Sharma, P.E. began working at Walter P Moore in 2005 and is currently a Principal and Design Manager. She has experience in design and detailing of long span steel roof canopy trusses; renovation and expansion of existing facilities; optimizing seating systems for grandstands; project management and coordination with sports architects and other disciplines; and overseeing structural portion of construction administration for projects with aggressive construction schedules.
Her many notable projects include: Texas Rangers Ballpark, Arlington, Texas; Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium Expansion, Norman, Oklahoma; Texas A&M University Kyle Field Redevelopment, College Station, Texas; Daytona Rising, Daytona, Florida; BBVA Compass Dynamo Stadium, Houston, Texas; KFC Yum! Center, Louisville, Kentucky and Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana.
