SEAoT-TAMU Updates – 2023 Officers

President –​ ​Rafeed Palakkal

Rafeed is a Structural Engineering Graduate student (Fall 2022 admit). He has 2 years and 10 months of international work experience as Design Engineer in WAPCOS, a public sector undertaking company in India. During his undergraduate program, he was the student coordinator for the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI)- student chapter of the college for two consecutive years. He had successfully coordinated technical competitive functions, workshops, seminars and talks by professionals in the campus under the chapter. Rafeed is expected graduate in Fall 2023. In his free time, he enjoys playing Cricket and football, watching movies, exploring and learning about new places, and likes spending time with friends.

Vice President – Ryan Garcia

Ryan García is a first year Master’s student. Ryan attended Texas A&M for his undergrad. He was the General officer for TAMU SEAoT for the year 2022. He has spent two years working with wastewater structures, which he did while in Honolulu, HI. He enjoys spending time with friends, hiking, and reading.

Treasurer –​ ​Mikhail Lanier

Mikhail is a graduate of the Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University with a B.S. and M.S. in civil engineering and is now in his third year pursuing a Ph.D. in structural engineering. He conducts research focused on the development of non-destructive evaluation techniques for health assessment of built structures under the direction of Dr. Stefan Hurlebaus. His further interests are in the study of advanced continuum mechanics, structural health monitoring, corrosion, and structural stability. He plays bassoon with the Texas A&M Symphonic Winds and bakes bread in his free time.

General Officer –​ ​Joren Falcon

Joren Falcon is a first-year masters student of Dr. Matthew Yarnold and Dr. Stefan Hurlebaus. He is conducting research on Accelerated Bridge Construction for the Texas Department of Transportation and Texas A&M Transportation Institute. Joren attended North Dakota State University for undergrad and has 3 years of consulting experience in designing buildings. He enjoys playing video games, going to the gym, and hanging out with friends.

As a brief overview of some of the SEAoT’s plans, we will have 6 meetings in Spring 2023, starting on February 6th. All meetings will be held on Mondays at 6:00 pm. See, the below flyer for all the scheduled meetings for this spring semester. We try to include different areas in structural engineering to connect students and professors to the industrial companies.
