First, I want to give Daniel Pearson some well-deserved kudos as our 2023 president as well as state conference planner and host. Daniel did a fantastic job and much of the success of the conference and our chapter are due to his hard work, good judgment, and overall personality. If you attended the conference, you know Daniel is an awesome emcee. But you might not know what a great attitude Daniel has in general, and what a team player he is. Many times he took on additional work outside his specific officer role to help out the other officers–myself included, so I have witnessed this first-hand. Thanks for everything, Daniel! You are a hard act to follow, and I hope you’ll stay involved with SEAoT Houston.

Next, I hope the first few weeks of 2024 are treating everyone well. They have been a busy time for SEAoT Houston officers as we prepare to host our first meeting of the year this Thursday, January 18, with social time starting at 11:30 a.m. We have an impressive roster of speakers on a topic that is a change of pace from buildings. I invite you to join us at Maggiano’s to hear about LNG tank performance from Madhav Parikh, Önder Akinci, Guzhao Li, and Paul Summers, of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger.

Our 2024 SEAoT Houston board consists of several returning officers, plus a couple of fresh faces:
President – Jennifer Martin-Logan
Vice President – Ashish Patel
Secretary – Eric Homburg
Treasurer – Ariel Suselo
Communications and Social Media – Anirudh Goel
Webmaster – Joshua Bond
State Director – Ashish Patel
State Director – Jame Alexander

Speaking of meetings, what do you look for in a professional engineering society’s meetings? SEAoT Houston would love to know what topics, times, and locations would work best for the group. So, we’re asking you! We’ve put together a survey to collect your input. The main topic of the survey is meetings but there are several open-ended questions as well. Please give it a go! The survey is administered through Google Forms, but we are NOT collecting google account information. You may complete the survey while signed in to Google, or not signed in. If you are signed in, you may pause the survey and your responses will be saved so you can return to it later. Click here to launch the survey–and thank you!We appreciate your input.

Until next time,

Jennifer Martin-Logan, PE
President
