Abstract:

This presentation offers an exploration of the Whitecap Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade. It highlights the process improvements undertaken, the structural adaptations made to accommodate new process requirements, and the application of Geopiers to tackle low bearing pressure challenges arising from loose sand and high groundwater. A vibration monitoring program developed for the project to safeguard structural integrity of nearby existing structures during construction will also be covered. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the complexities of wastewater treatment plant upgrades and practical solutions applicable to similar future projects.

Presenters:

Ashish Patel, PE (Team Leader) & Paul Wood (Senior Associate) at Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc.

Bios:

Ashish Patel, PE, is a seasoned structural engineer with a rich history of over two decades in the industry.
