Abstract:

This presentation is designed to inform the stakeholders in the AEC industry of an up-and-coming project delivery method called Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). IPD seeks to optimize efficiency and reduce waste through a unified team environment and shared risk-reward structures. In addition to teaching the characteristics of IPD, the presentation will involve a discussion with the audience regarding how real projects benefit from or could have benefited from early and intentional collaboration.

Presenters:

Eric Homburg, PE., SE.; Ashish, PE.

Bio:

Eric Homburg, PE, SE, is an inquisitive, creative, and adaptive structural engineer with 10 years of experience in the industry. His experience includes design and forensic experience in residential, commercial, municipal, and institutional projects as small as a shade structure to as large as a 23-story tower. Eric is always looking for ways to ensure that proper communication and coordination occurs within a project team. It is his belief that the team only truly succeeds when everyone does their part effectively and cooperatively.

Ashish Patel, PE, is a seasoned structural engineer with a rich history of over two decades in the industry. His expertise spans a diverse range of projects, from the analysis of satellite structures to the innovative design of ferry link span mechanisms akin to the human hand. A fervent advocate for interdisciplinary collaboration, Ashish has dedicated his career to elevating the role of consulting structural engineers, encouraging them to take the helm on large-scale endeavors.
