Abstract:

Tensile structures including fabric membranes and cable elements require a highly nonlinear analysis program to determine the optimal shape based on applied prestress forces. RFEM 6 automatically calculates this shape finding equilibrium between the cable axial force or the membrane stress considering the existing boundary conditions. The resulting shape can then be used as the initial state for further static calculations including design of the supporting structure.
